Managing Compliance Before Drata

Before Drata, we used spreadsheets to maintain our compliance program. Once we started scaling the team, we hit limitations with Excel. We recognized that we needed a solution to help manage compliance at scale so we began the search for our ideal solution.

Why Drata?

When you look at other compliance management tools, they have a variety of knobs and levers and can be very time-intensive to deploy. One of the main reasons that we liked Drata was because the sophisticated platform wasn't overly complicated to get going so we were able to leverage the continuous monitoring and automation capabilities right away.

The Benefits of Drata

Our circumstance was unique because we came to Drata with an existing SOC 1 framework and audit, and we needed to be able to upload all of that information into the system. We then used Drata’s Custom Frameworks to create a custom SOC 1 framework. Custom Frameworks made it easy for us to take the controls we had worked on with our auditors and drop them directly into Drata while mapping them against the other controls that the team is already tracking in the platform.

The speed at which Drata enables us to test our controls has greatly accelerated our ability to tackle new initiatives. We are also able to take advantage of the controls Drata offers for other frameworks we’re maintaining like SOC 2 and PCI. This will allow us to scale easily long term and offers a cleaner implementation. I now have a dashboard that shows me where the team's at on our compliance goals—it’s very intuitive.
